I have been working through most of my raw Morgans primarily looking for Hot 100 VAMs and have found four that are probable.
This 1880 O has some interesting characteristics and I am asking for your thoughts on determining a
VAM.
I have read through all the
VAM Word listings several times and since I am new to these diagnostics, I must not be focusing on the right aspects.
Pictures are at the link below and I can add additional pics if you want to see other areas or details.
What is interesting with this coin is that it displays many die cracks on the reverse and several on the obverse. Also, it looks like the date is slightly closure than normal. Finally, there are some major rim
Cud (I think that is what they call it) areas on the reverse and on the obverse.
I do think there are the lines / gougs between the eagle's head and right wing that they reference for the C3b reverse. Similar gouges to the right of the right leg.
Let me know what you think and if you want some other pictures.
Maybe
VAM 17 ? nope...doesn't have the gouge in LIBERTY or the die scratches in Eagle's chest or below aarrow shaft.
