Here is another one:)

Please grade.

My assumption with this coin is that it has very little wear and a typical weak strike. I am also curious how the lack of steps affects the grade.

Also, does this coin have one or two steps; does it matter?

Do my pics show "luster" or is it just flash?

I'd go Mint State low end, (MS-62) defintely no steps the hit through the left keeps it from that designation.

There are barely any steps at all, so not even close to FS. This describes FS:
http://varietynickels.com/pages/jef...ll-steps.php

Also, most nickels for the 60s and 70s didn't have good dies and most have little to no steps at all, even though they are MS, like the steps are on yours, but I don't think that nickel is quite MS. I would grade it AU-58.

It looks like it has some type of burnish look to it, but that wasn't done that year. Kind of strange. Maybe it took a spin in a washing machine or dryer?

Look at some Mint Sets from the 1990s and you'll see some nickels with FS. You can even find some in circulation, by searching rolls and look at nickels from the past few years.

I think it may have been buffed. AU-50.

There is something to be said about it possibly being a weak strike and not circulated but that does not, in my opinion, make it as desirable as a strong strike and uncirculated or rate a higher grade.

I think it is worth saving.
I don't think the number of steps is going to make a significant difference in the value of this coin.

I find an abundance of 1970S Nickels still in circulation and this is one of the better ones.

How much would a 1982 D with this condition run for? Does anyone know? I have one that might be in better condition than this, but I don't have my scanner hooked up right now.
