Keep your powder dry. Sooner or later someone will come in that has something to sell that the shop does not want (trains?) and you will be able to get a steal of a deal.

Great call Mmerlinn may be a buy op present itself one day....

My girlfriend and here mom were in a bad motorcycle wreck years back, and her mom past 8 years later (about 3 years ago) via post wreck complications, as she had lost her leg in the wreck. She had a medicine dispensing morphine pump inside her, and it crystallized and they had to operate to fix it. Then most tragically she had an allergic reaction to the medicine they used to put her under for surgery. I for one thought that was very peculiar and always thought there was shadiness surrounding her passing. Krista was only 20 at the time, and that is something no one could understand I imagine unless they went through that, and her mom was only 43. My girlfriend made it to Paris T.N. where her father still lives, like an hour after she past on. Her sister called an told me as I was right in the middle of a hockey tourney. So later when I got that call from the girl friend and I knew her mom had past, it was the toughest phone call I ever took bar none....

Anyway, too my point she gave all her old jewelry to Krista, via her father an mother's wedding ring an a few others. She of course is keeping those in the family an not ever selling, but she did pull out like 3 old 14k chains and three or four 14k pendants....

Anyhow, the boss at work was real cool to give me a bit more then we would offer the public, and I got her 320 bucks for it, all junk mostly damaged, stuff she would have never worn again, and again she kept the main items that have much more sentimental value as well as monetary.....

So I got the first week down, and I am working three days now Thurs through Friday. So if any of you are ever in the area stop by....

Sounds like your having a great time at this place. What could be better than getting paid to learn and do something you like?

You should keep posting what you are doing at the shop daily, its interesting to read.

"Employee discount?"

He said I could buy silver at 50 cents over spot. We have stores that sell many coins an bullion, but right now our store does not make much on the single 1 or 2 oz. silver sells right now as of yet....

Its weird, like I am the only guy in West knox now that believes in silver. I know we all account for less then like 1% of the world pop correct, but geeeez. So no big deal to sell it to me an make a little less. I think it has much to be with only being open short time, as there are coin collectors in town, and they are set in there way and most go to a shop or two on the other end of town (owned by guys who have been there a long time an built a bus) to buy silver an gold coins. Now then, they are not gonna sell me like proof Eagles at 50 cents over spot I am sure, but even if they just make 5 or 10 on me over what they have in it, they are fluctuating product I figure that does not move fast otherwise....

Thanks CB, I will keep you posted on things like when we bring in new cool rare coins, or just good old fashion bullion, like a burnished an proof eagle we bought the other day.....

We bought a quarter Kruger today, and a 1/10....

Also, a guy came in that bought silver at around 14 per oz. and held too long in early 80's an he mentioned the Hunt brothers, lol....

He had a bunch of those silver rounds with the weight scales on one side, and a bunch of Half Ben's an Kennedy's, as well as fifty old Panama mint bars....

About 76 oz., and he walked out real happy with a large check selling it all to us, and I was doing this.....

One of the locals who advertises cash pays by check on over $50. There's very seldom a legit reason for large cash transactions, and it's safer to carry around a check.

One guy called in an said he has 800 dollars face value worth of pre 64 half Franklin's an Kennedy's. This should be an interesting transaction if he does indeed stop buy an decide to sell....
