Some of the key dates of Lincolns are 1909S VDB, 1914D, 1922 No D, and 1931S. Wheats are worth about 3 cents and the 1940's steel pennies slightly more. Condition also plays a part in value.

You are probably not finding very many wheaties in Canada so I will assume you are referring to the much more common Lincoln Memorial cents. There are only a couple key dates for the series- the 1960P Small Date and the 1970S Small Date, both of which are exceedingly difficult to find in circulation anywhere. Now if you want to talk about die varieties(repunched mintmarks, doubled dies, etc), the list is gonna be huge...

If I were you I would keep anything before 1932. Also all American pennies before 1982 (and some of the 1982s) are made of copper so they have intrinsic value from the metal. Enjoy your collecting!

Some of the more common varieties would be the Close(1992) and Wide AM reverses(1998-2000), numerous RPMs(only found on pre-1990 coins but especially prevalent on 1960s issues), 1972P doubled dies(13 known with a couple that are quite valuable), and the 1995P DDO(dramatic spread but fairly common with an estimated mintage exceeding 100k).

For US coins you may want to check out some of the sites that have price guides such as Numismedia and PCGS. There you would find a really extensive list of all of them.
