This gave me quite a chuckle this morning while looking for a reasonably priced set of 2011 mint set quarters.

If this were a true die break, there should be others showing a progressive die break, right? He may have gotten the error authenticated by Ken, but that doesn't come even close to justifying the BIN price.

Gee, I'd like to be the person that finds the next modern equivalent of the 1913 Liberty 5c or the 1804 silver dollar...

Even if it was a die break that price is just ridiculous!

I am gonna have to pull out my mint set. If I have a bird on mine, I will only ask $50,000 for mine.

I don't think he is really serious on the price, just wanting to get the word out about a new variety in a proof set, though I'm sure he'd take the $100K if someone offered it to him, Ken Potter is a stand up guy, the person that verified the coin, I'd want to verify the coin through him directly, but no way it's worth what he is asking.

Well, I checked my set and I don't have a bird on my coin. Guess, I am still broke.

Aye a nicely placed, well-shaped gouge on the die. I'd love to see if others exist.

It probably is very rare, proof dies only last for about 3,000 strikes and this one was probably spotted and pulled very early, They probably also tried to do a quick search and pull any on hand before they went out. All that being true it still comes down to a "Who cares?" question. Rarity doesn't mean a high price unless there is demand as well. I don't see people beating down the doors to pay high prices for very common type errors just because they are on proof coins. About the only exception might be with proofs on clipped planchets.
