Ok, I got this yesterday so what I'd like to know is, what do you think this is worth and is it worth keeping? Or am I better off using this to get something like the 2012 proof dragon for $55? Do you think something like this is worth it? I'm still very undecided what way to go

What would you do? And if buying a coin what one?

Please put done a coin and why, eg low mintage etc

Cheers team

It looks like it is in pretty good shape but I do think you'll get much more than face value, $60 absolute tops.
I's suggest any 1 oz 0.999 Fine silver coin would be a better alternative

After getting the first & last prefixes, I look for interesting serial numbers (semi solid, radars, repeater numbers etc):

Decimal bank notes (polymers) rarely do well, you might get $52-60 for your note, I think you would be better of purchasing something with it. Unless it is first/last prefix or a semi solid serial they really aren't worth more than face value in any condition.

With inflation over the long term you should do better with a large silver coin as mentioned above, than the nice condition $50 note.

I will open this question to everybody, as Ausjack has done.

The reason I can't answer the question for him is that I have been collecting all coins, ancient to modern for decades, and I would buy anything that jumps out at me as representing good value for money. What I could buy may be very obscure. Not a useful answer for this thread.

How would YOU spend $50 for best investment on a numismatic item, that is currently reasonably easy to obtain?
