1917 Half Penny - Coin Community Forum

erkle Pillar of the Community 1119 Posts	Posted 01/07/2012 6:36 pm again I'm a newb but I would go with vf to ef, because of wear on the band of the crown, closer to ef than vf for sure. is the first 1 in 1917 wider than the second? the 7 doesn't look right to me either. enworb Pillar of the Community Australia 4411 Posts	Posted 01/07/2012 8:25 pm The below photo shows the crown on the obverse. Whilst it is not the best photo it shows the 4 sets of 2 pearls and 3 individual diamonds in the band at the base of the crown. The second pair of pearls from the left are usually the first point to show wear, followed closely by the centre diamond slightly to the right of the above mentioned pearls. As your coin doesn't have much of the centre diamond I wouldn't quite grade it VF, personally I see it more as aVF. Report this Post to the Staff
