Here's something I found in the UK newspapers, a US copper coin going for $1.38 million.
It says the buyer is a "major collector" they forgot to mention a very very rich collector.

$1.38-Million-For-A-Coin?

1793 Chain Cent ( Red Book of U.S. Coins) - PCGS MS65BN...finest known.

Oldest US coin yes, but not the finest grade. This piece is at least #3 for this variety.

It is a record price for a US copper beating out the finest 1795 S-79 by about $100K. (I remember when the record for the first US coin to sell for over $100K was set. Now we have $100K difference between the high end pieces.)

That is an impressive coin, but do you think the model really looked like that?

Kind of scary to see someone who looks like that walking around, even back in those days.

And this coin is making news just about everywhere.
