$25 Boxes Of Brinks Pennies

Most sorters do well above 25%cu ,
(I've been pulling %30-35%) but looking at the number of cents out there...Thats a huuuge number of coppers. Even if Portland mint and Brinks pulls $5mil face for Coinstar that puts a small dent in the coppers IMHO, even if alot of that is uncirculated like wheaties etc. I just stopped dumping to anyplace BUT Coinstar hahaha, I get no fees if I select the Amazon/Lowes GiftCards.

BTW: I request the "mixed" boxes from my bank, maybe give that a try. I know many people suggest weighing the boxes if you start getting lots of zinc.
My boxes usually weigh 15.2lbs..
all zinc is 14lb I believe.
And all cu is 17lb If I recall.
Edit, wait that can't be right..cause I just did 2 boxes and got 3/4 a box full of cu

The best part is wheaties are a diferent compostion, they have tin in them. Most comparitors may reject and leave them in the zinc and don't catch them all. Some get missed :o)

Coppertop - thanks, I didn't know you could get gift cards from those machines. I hated the idea of paying a fee for cashing in my coins so I never used them.

Here in the midwest, I've been consistantly pulling 25% cu from brinks boxes. However, my dad just went and bought his first box and got all new stuff, but I'm not sure which company his box came from.

I'm with you asimpson91, the last $25 dollar box had maybe 1 or 2 copper coins per every roll and the 1919 S that I spoke of, I believe came from a roll that I had nearby when I was searching as I never found another Wheat penny in the entire box. Very disappointing and frustrating I must say. Mostly new coins with lots of 80's, 90's and newer in the box. I went to the same bank previously and received paper wrapped coins and they were mostly copper and wheat cents so I'm thinking about making up some lame excuse of having an allergic reaction to the plastic that the rolls are in or something. lol.

Nice southsav. Before now, I too enjoyed a mix of all dates. The earliest that I've found is a 1911P in almost good condition but many wheats of all dates including alot of S coins. What I'm wodering is this, is it possible that I cleaned the bank out of their old stash of pennies? I live in a small border town of Maine and get my coins at Machias Savings in Houlton. They are pretty good about it all and the only difference that I can think of is before now, I was only getting $20 at a time not a full sealed box of $25. At first I was getting all paper rolls with alot of Canadian pennies. Then it was a mix of paper and the plastic rolls but still a decent mix. This last box had alot of the newer dates but no wheaties and very little copper but Brinks sealed. So is it Coinstar that is getting better at sorting out the odd weight, mishapen coins or Brinks, or both? And I wonder what they do with them all? So many questions but intriguing still the same. You would think that they would appeal to the collectors and auction them off or something.
