Hi folks! I got the chance to upgrade my pretty bad 1858 S Seated Liberty half dollar. What grade would you give the new one?

Thanks for looking!

I will go with EF-40 details. Very nice coin!

Should make XF40. The obverse on your old one looks like a nice lowball piece.

VF-30/35 details, it looks to have more wear than an XF but the main detail is really strong. Is the coin re-engraved? Either that or polished. Regardless, very nice detail on an S mint...just wondering because a ton of the 50s S mint halves are re-engraved.

I would say VF 35 and thumb shinned, nice up grade.

Yeah, this one has me a little bewildered. I really like the details, but I could see it having been cleaned a bit or maybe even lightly polished?

The best explanation for me is that maybe this coin was carried in someone's pocket for a month or two.

I still like it though...
