Would someone deliberately tack on an astronomical shipping charge in the hope of getting someone to bid without noticing the charge and thus contractually obligate themselves to pay it?

Although I can't see ebay at work, I can image that this happens alot, people getting in too big of a hurry and placing a decent bid and getting the shaft on shipping.

Since you can't see the link: The shipping charge is $175 for a single Walking Liberty half!
Rest in Peace

Looking at her other auctions, I think this was just a misplaced decimal and shipping was meant to be $1.75. I've done this by accident myself at least once.

It sounds like a TV ad: "Second coin is free, just pay shipping and handling."

...or maybe her other auctions list as shipping for $1.75 are wrong, and they really are $175! Or maybe that is for door-to-door delivery, she would personally deliver them to you.

Anyway, whoa that's steep!

I sent her a question on shipping she replied thanking her for the question and said she made a error and changed it.
