Not one, but 5 of them in a $300 dollar withdrawal. The rest of them were all dated 1985. Still unlikely. Sadly, please don't rip me to badly, I had to use them to pay a debt. Although I did mention that they were collectibles to the receiver of the debt.

I know these are not notes seen everyday in circulation. I also sincerely wish the circumstances was such that I could have exchanged them with anything else to pay, but it wasn't possible at the time.

Please tell me I didn't just hand a fortune to the shredder. To be more precise, what are crisp 1969 $20 notes worth anyways?

I would have gone to a local coin shop to see if they wanted to buy them first. Need to know series and SN's but my older price guide reads at least $53 each. EDIT: http://www.uscurrencyauctions.com/$20notes.htm

Unfortunately you had to cash them in and that happens. At least you got to hold them in your hands for a short while.

A dealer would probably have given you half of what they were worth, so a slight profit.

Old bills still circulate...on occassion, usually somebody found someones stash of collectables and did not notice the value in them. The "small head" bills should have been a giveaway. The search continues.
