Strike your own dragon coin during the Chinese new year at RCM Vancouver downtown store. If you miss the schedule, you have to wait another 12 years.

I do not know the dragon image yet, but I struck the rabbit coin last year.

I also got the free gift last year.

Of course, I took a picture with the BIG gold bar; however, I really hated the chain locked with the gold bar.

Very neat. The medallion is a cool idea and freebies are always nice!

Interesting... any extra's of the 2011 medallion? Are you allowed to strike more than one dragon coin yourself? I live here in Ottawa, and you cannot even make those at the home of the mint - I wonder why the Vancouver outlet does that? I would love one...

I remember I struck 2 kinds of medallion at the Vancouver outlet year 2011.

One is the rabbit in January, and the other one is for Vancouver 125 years in July. The medallion's size is the same as one cent.

Usually the outlet let each person strike 2 medallion, but if you bring kids with you, they will let kids strike more.

SPP-Ottawa, currently I have 2 rabbit and 2 Vancouver 125 medallion. Of course, I believe I will strike 2 dragon medallion next week. If you like them, I can mail 1 rabbit + 1 Vancouer 125 + 1 dragon to you. They do not worth money, but they are interesting.

dodola, that would be fantastic! I would greatly appreciate that! I would like to show these to the members of the Ottawa Coin Club, including the photo of the "press". Click on the 'email poster' link in the banner of this post, and send me a note. I will dig around my box of interesting stuff and offer you a decent trade for your troubles.

That is cool that you got to strike your own medallions.

What is the composition of the medallion? You should see if the RCM will give you a blank and you'd have a unique little collection going.

Be sure to post the dragon.

Someone take a picture of the medallion blank before striking occurs ... pretty please?

I want to see how well they are annealed if I can.

Nice tokens! I'm working on a set of Winnipeg/Ottawa self-strike visitor tokens.

That's a fine idea, SPP... I'm going to let the Saint John club know about this press too. They really should have this traveling around the country more(the self-strike tokens).
