I changed my plan now... use a magnifying glass for ALL copper 82 and before, and only on 83,84,85d,87d,88,92,95,98,99,2000.. also on nice looking 91 94.. I came to the conclusion that I would rather search a lot of boxes and possibly pass up some coins than take my time and do a ton less coins. I really want to start finding some WAM or CAM. At least with these coins there is no question, instead of searching hundreds of pennies and finally thinking you find something worth it, and its just MD anyway lol. Still re rolling all my copper, harder work than I first thought it would be.

I was having pretty good luck for a while, but I also have been getting skunked. I literally look at all of them with a loop. I guess thats the draw for me now. Once I move back down to the lower 48 I am assuming my finds will increase. If you havent go to it yet, check out coppercoins.com. It is an excellent site for reference. There is alot more out there you are missing. good luck

I usually get bags of cents from the bank off of the change counters. I sort all copper out into five gallon buckets. I keep all 72's separate and 1988's. I then glance at all remaining Zinc Cents front and back under a large stationary lighted magnifying glass. I can usually spot the large spread doubles and trails with just the magnifying glass. Over the weekend I found and BU 98 WAM and a AU 2004 P 1DR-001 and a nice 1960 D RPM #5. I also pulled out multiple trail dies on the 2011 P. I save all BU post 1982 to check under a stereo microscope. I sort all the BU's by date only. This way you are getting use to looking at the same style numbers and letters. This process seems to work for me. I am not that interest in finding multiples of lesser grade and/or dollar amount coins. Some probably would say that I am missing a lot of lower grade coins, but That is my preference. I do keep all of the WAMS. Still Lookin.

Remember to look for 1996 WAM's. The finds are out there, just put in the time and look at every coin, back and front. I use the exact same search pattern on every penny. Also Billy Crawfords DVD is a great way to know what to look for on each year penny. I've found some cool finds in ugly shape. 71 & 72 DDO's, 84 DBL ear. Patience and be consistent in your search pattern. Be aware of the year coin in your hand and create a cheat sheet with info on each year... Bon Chance

I don't think the 1996 WAM is a possibility. Only one example and it was stolen? I feel it may have been an altered coin? But no way to check it with it not available. No one else has found any.

Seems like if someone had found one there would be a lot of noise about it? There was a coin that was altered about the same time this one was posted. Different year and they made it like the magicians coins.
