Don't know if this is an error, and if so, how common? Thanks!

Looks like a groove or channel in the left rim--is this normal? I never noticed one before--the "groove" only goes from about "In God We Trust" to the end of "Liberty". Apologies if I'm trying to make something out of nothing--I'm VERY new at this error business--just trying to learn some stuff!

Thats called a MAD-misaligned die. The die they struck the coin with didnt hit the exact center of the coin so this little lip appears. Since MADs of this size are common, its not worth anything else but silver value. Larger MADs can have premiums though.
