Looking at this coin, and might buy it. I am not sure where this seller is getting so many PL and DMPL coins though.

Wow, what a coin tho! I don't think I could tell except it must be a coin of a couple hundred dollars? Since it is so frosted like that can it still have those surface marks and be UNC? It looks to be AU to me.

Yeah, almost every Morgan has those marks. They are from the mint bags they were in, its just chatter from rubbing against other coins.

The spot on the eagles chest feathers is what I am most worried about.

I guess it all comes down to how much they want for it. I certainly would not be embarrassed to own that as my first and only CC Morgan dollar. Someone will chime in on whether it is DMPL or not, sure looks to be more than just PL to me.
Have you looked at this price guide?

Yeah, just to be safe whenever I buy a raw PL/DMPL coin I don't like to pay over PL price unless I know for sure that it is a DMPL, but thats just me.

If that is not a tiny bit of rub on the eagles chest feathers, I am thinking this coin is an MS-64, and possibly a 65.

Well good luck if you buy it. I have no idea on what that would grade, just tried to help. I hope you hit a home run with it. Someone with a lot more knowledge will come along I hope.

Assign a grade of MS63DMPL for the issue, and bid accordingly with reservation, because another one will come along. They're rare, but available. I recognize the images according to the seller's practice - I know who it is - and the coin should look in your own pics the same way as it does in the auction images. You can't fake that.

This is an unquestioned DMPL. Only the grade is in question. I don't have the money, but if I did I'd seriously consider reaching towards $1000 for this one.

So, Superdave you think the coin is at least a MS-63DMPL?

Should I be worried that the seller does not accept PayPal?

Yes, but no further.

Stop now. Look, think, regroup, consider your tolerance for problems. This seller's last two sales were Negs for non-delivery, but from the same buyer. At the price it's resting, right now with 14 minutes left?

Oh, yeah. Yes, please. Yes, I'd risk the money. All day. Do it.

I have a feeling the last 2 minutes will be interesting, I don't think I will be bidding though.

Well, I didn't bid on the coin. I know that the coin could have been an MS-63DMPL but if it came back a 62, then I have a $480 coin (That I would have paid over $600 for). I also didn't like the fact that the seller had 2 negative feedback's left for him recently and he does not accept PayPal (which might be bad if I needed to return the coin).

For anyone who is interested in seeing the auction here it is:

Valid concerns, and well within most people's tolerances. I think it went appropriately (for the buyer) at $600; I'd have done that number all day for this coin.

There will be another, man. This was a nice one, but not the last.

I probably would have gambled on it, especially since you can always return. I doubt the coin was MS-62. And if you get a 64, then bam you just made $1500 or something.

Gorgeous looking coin great frosting + cameo could be DMPL.

Since it isn't in a slab I would guess MS-62 PL. If it were 63 or better, I think it would be slabbed no reason to throw away $500 and ebay a great coin. TPG grading costs are not that high.
