For this picture, I used just 1 lamp, Canona SD790IS, f8 @ 1/640 (handheld). A pretty low-tech setup, but the results are improving. Report this Post to the Staff

DVCollector Bedrock of the Community United States 10045 Posts	Posted 01/15/2012 5:20 pm Thanks! What really helps steady these shots is the size/weight of this camera--just 6oz/180gr w/battery. The small size allows my hands to both support the camera on the table and release the shutter--not possible with my last Nikon dSLR. The picture quality is comparable to my Nikon with a dedicated macro lens. Someday, I'll get another dSLR--I'm impressed by the results collectors get here. Report this Post to the Staff

As a photographer I can attest to just how hard it is to hold a camera steady! I used to carry about 40-65 pounds of gear all day in the hot sun. My main cameras were a 1Vhs an 1Nrs with a 300mm f/2.8 and a 500mm f/4 talk about heavy! Today I only carry a 1Ds or 5DmkII with a 70-200 f/2.8 or 16-35 f/2.8 & 24-70 f/2.8 so not so bad. That 16-35 is an object of envy for me; if I could afford one (I can't), it would be my carry lens. The 18-55 kit lens is great for a cheap lens, but just not fast enough for indoor photography. I have a 50/1.4 which is plenty fast and silly sharp, and far too long on a crop sensor. I can live without IS as long as I have a monopod. Report this Post to the Staff
