What are some of the weirdest places you have found keeper coins? I am pretty sure that most, if not all, of us check every coin we get in change, that is pretty pedantic, but what about the weird places you may not have thought of?

At work we have an old coffee cup that people drop coins as an honor box for donuts, candy and other goodies brought in by employees. One of our guys uses that to buy more donuts etc. and keep the rest of us fat and happy. I participate by buying out the coins every day and add my contribution. If there is $1.50 in the cup I will put in two dollar bills and stuff a donut down my gullet. Every once in a while I find the odd silver dime or quarter, wheat pennies or old nickel. Once I found 7 wheat pennies, a circulated silver proof quarter and a 64 dime within about $3.00 accumulated coins from the weekend.

most of mine come from the register at work- that's not a bad thought, the coin cup. Think big. Anybody you see regularly have a jar or car cup or something? Also the coinstar return. Just suck it up when you're at the super market or Walmart and check. I've found countless wheaties along with a silver dime, a silver quarter and a counterfeit copper '43 cent. Tons of foreign stuff too

The best find I had in an odd place was....my sister and her husband had a big Jack Daniels bottle full of cents and nickels and they said I could look through it and keep what I wanted for my collection.I found seven wheats....including a 1909-VDB !

I remember someone posted here that they found an early LWC on a barstool or on the floor at a bar, something like that.

When I was in High School I worked at a gas station for a couple years. My Wheat penny collection started from checking the pennies I received during the work day and checking the "give a penny, take a penny" tray. I found many nice wheat pennies in the tray!

I found a Morgan dollar on a fairway of the golf course I frequent last summer. Must have been someone's ball marker!
