What Are "Dark Side" Coins?

Pardon my ignorance, but I have no idea what this means. Are they coins that are very worn? Counterfeit? Deeply toned? Something else?

I think some people use the term to refer to coins not of their own country. For example coins of the USA would be "darkside" coins for me.

Correct. I believe the phrase began over on the CU forum (or perhaps on a forum which no longer exists) about ten years ago, before this forum was founded.

It's in the CCF Glossary.
