Am I right that this has 'thickness' in the motto?
It kinda looks like 1DR-001 to me, but it's worn so there not really any markers to speak of.

I'm seeing something there (especially in the Us) but the pictures aren't clear enough to get a close enough look.

It is a doubled die. Whcih one, I don't know. 001, 005, 007 or 009. You might want to checl to see if any markers are present on your coin.

ok thanks. I did check for all the markers mentioned on the CC site to no avail before posting. No clash marks that I can see and the flat surfaces are pretty much worn smooth. Just nice to find one even if I can't identify which one it is!

If it were a mint marked example, that is another way to determine which one it is. Still a nice find. Now you know you got your eye trained. Did it just just out at you when you found it? Then you know you were looking too hard on examples that were not doubled dies.

I was/am still struggling with the whole 'thickness' thing especially on the older coins where a thick letter is often just PMD when examined closer, but finding this one definitely helped me better understand what I'm hunting for.
I was recently given a pile of old coins including liberty/Kennedy/Ike halves, liberty quarters, buff nickels, merc dimes, and a big coffee jar of wheaties. It's a slow process but since I'm still learning I sort by year and look at all the pics on the CC site first and then examine each coin for that year...then do it again for the next year. So, yes this did jump right out.
I'm also building an excel spreadsheet for the cents as I go and noting for each year/mint whether there's obv/rev/mm recorded, any oddities like eyes, ears, etc., so when I'm back to bank box searching I have a quick ref guide for these older dates.

I actually have an Excel sheet made up with links of coins that I hunt for on the sheet. Its invaluable to me. Its not complete yet. I'm making it as I go but I have probably 1975-2011 done....

Happy Hunting

I just remember what doubled dies are common of the devices on the years surrounding a date of coin that I have and look for everything. I put it all to memory though. Someday I need to make up a disk of what ot look for in certain series of Cents to help others to see what I look for. That will take some time to get the coins imaged/aranged/descriptions. Someday.......
