Hi guys
Here is 2 loonies, the one on the left looks like it has a coating on it as compared to a regular coloured loonie....It doesn't rub off...Has anyone seen this before...?

Yeah the one on the left was plated normally at some point and it's been removed. The list of acids that will remove bronze and not touch nickel is too long to list.
Rest in Peace

Hi Ugly
I wonder why if some one went to the trouble to remove the coating, why not do the other side....

I honestly can't answer that wert, I can tell you without doubt that you won't see a "one side only" plating error with the process the mint uses.

Maybe the guy had ADD and went on to scraping the copper off a cent.
Rest in Peace
