Shouldn't the 9 have more of a point at the bottom as well as the second "1" have a point at the top of the 1 instead of flat top like a T? I'm new at the grading, judging etc and am just trying to pickup a few things.

Did you also contact the seller? I would expect one with a feedback reputation such as theirs (unless you guys know something I don't) would be more than interested to know if something they are offering is not right and to resolve the situation on their own. I know I would if I were them. Earl

His feedback isn't all that great if you ask me. I would avoid that seller like the plague. Anyone who consistently has unhappy buyers is a no go in my book and he obviously makes a hobby out of being deceitful.

For the sake of future reference, I have archived this coin's date, comparing to a certified example. This coin is so many kinds of wrong, and not just the date. Look at the designer initials and IGWT, for starters. For the merc experts out there--do you think the whole coin is a fake? I hope it gets pulled in time.

Yeah, the whole coin is fake from the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" to the surface finish. Nothing is right about this one.

One die for the 1942/1-P and one die for the 1942/1-D, it is also worth noting that they are both Class 3 Doubled Dies(design hub doubling). I suspect that the entire coin is a fake rather than just an altered date.

I get email notification from ebay for error Mercury dimes to keep track of any bad ones on the Bay, anytime I get suspicious of what I look at. I normally will question the seller, but this one is bad enough that I need to post it here. As of now seller hasn't respond to my message.

Interesting. I could buy the fact that he/she might not know it's fake. I could even let the few negative feedback comments go as one that's been there for 15 years I know you can't make everyone happy not if you have thousands of transactions. I've had only a fraction of that sellers tranactions and have still had a hanfull of strange birds I've run accross that nothing would make them happy. However, if I was informed something I had listed was not what I was advertising it as, it would be gone in an instant. Earl

The listing has finally been removed, thanks to those that help in keeping fakes out of the Bay!
