I am under the impression that a clip on Morgans is fairly rare, and is this a partial clip? It is at the 10 o'clock position on the obverse and goes through to the reverse side. Please enlighten me. Thanks.

Looks more like a planchet error, maybe a gas bubble in the blank before striking. In either case its a neat example. nlp

nothing to add but I agree with what has already been said, this isn't a clip but a planchet flaw that cracked when the coin was struck. Still probably pretty rare even though I am not sure how rare

I've seen guys at coin shows that would pay $50 - $100 for anything like this, back when common silver dollars in UNC were around $20.00.

Plus side is there are a lot of people that collect Morgans, and many want any error they can find.
