Issue price for the 10oz was around $ 200. The price of silver makes it raw worth around $ 300
Based on past experience, if they make a 25oz maple collector coin, I would guess an issue price of $ 1700 to $ 1800 I mean, the 1KG maple was ~$ 2100 so they would not make the 775g maple even more expensive.
If they were to make a bullion coin instead (and lots & lots of them), then you would have a price very close to silver's price, so maybe around the $ 850 mark.

Thanks Jpaiva83 Back in 1998, I was in University, $200 would have covered all my course textbooks. I did get the 2008 20th Anniversary SML, but it doesn't seem special. For the 25th Anniversary of the SML, I think the RCM needs to come out with a big coin, but not necessarily 25oz worth.

One coin they could come up with is a real piedfort coin. I made the suggestion a while ago and even the Mint's rep seemed to have liked it.
My idea was a 2oz silver maple coin. Same diameter as the regular sliver maple but twice as think. Being the 25th anniversary it could be extra special & unique by making it a 2.5oz coin. At least 2.5oz would be more affordable to the masses than a 25oz coin would be.
Have you ever heard of a 2.5oz coin from any mint? I have not.

I think it's a great idea but I also feel that the 25th year anniversary is more of a milestone than just the 10th yearand therfore the 25th anniversary coin should reflect that. I think that the 10oz coin would still be more special because of it's silver content of 10oz rather than the 2.5oz. Although the uniqueness of a 2.5 is also special.

Back in 98, the silver spot price was around $6+/- per oz so the coin has a hefty premium over spot - it's a collector item after all. I was thinking for the 25th Annie, the RCM should have a silver set of 2oz Reverse Proof, 5oz Piedfort, 10oz Proof.... that's too late now since they already came out the set and I've got one. What about a set of 1/20th oz in gold, 0.5 oz in Platinum, and 1 oz in silver for the 25th Annie.... I don't know... just some quick/weird thought. So far, I've the ASE 25th Annie and now the SML 25th Annie, I still need to get the GB Britannia 25th Annie.... Imagine a collection of all 25th Annie set of silver coins from all government mints around the world, that would be an accomplishment.

Waking up an older topic. I've seen a couple of these in person lately, KIJIJI pictures and one in hand. I am quite a fan. Very very interesting. The asking price is much too high at this time but I will be looking for it in the future.
IIIIII LIKE it.......
cheers Liverpool

People mused we'd be spending silver Maples at face value soon. 100oz silver bars priced at sub-$1000 sat on dealers tables like paperweights. I wanted the 10oz Maple and still do, but a 300+% premium was, and still is, too much IMO.

Good example to observe the following: Real coin artwork worth to pickup.... $200 in 1998 and now $600, and this one still unique, the 2014 just not appealing, IMO. The RCM haven't satisfied Poboxw' wish and flooded the market with different SML's: additional piedfort 1/2oz became a series (nice series and inexpensive IMO) 3 new fractional sets (2013, 2014, 2015) several 5 oz's 10 oz over-over priced series of "Premium Bullion version" / "Bullion Replica", where I think just one of them was enough even coloured, guilded, glow-in-the dark...and nothing special. Affordable ($300) Platinum...but why just not the traditional Maple leaf on it? Too bad, that from the standard bullion with some rare numismatic issues it became part of the mass production edition....

I've found two of these for sale in eastern Canada, one for $550 the other for $650. The $650 one is closer. Just too much money for me....both of them. Still a nice coin

That's what I was thinking, The one local is a reseller, good guy but at times expensive at times when he knows he has something cool. Limited market on a large coin such as this so I'm hoping to offer several attractive proofs and collectables in trade. Group of seven coins, proof libertads, lunar new year, F15 rhino. Items from my broken sets that he may find of value. Odds are I may take a bath on them but in the end if I get any where close to value for value ......cool

When you offer some "regular issue" to dealer, expect to get offer, lower than you afraid to get But, think this way: the coins that you want to trade / sale, anyway already not valuable for you and they kind of "dead collectibles" in your collection (might be just to sell on ebay, where you will sell for better price, but it will take long time), so for them to get the "desirable item", which will make you happy - I think that's right to do. I will add: Being nice and rare coin, the 10oz SML already started to loose in value, I remember 2 yrs ago it priced near $700, so you hav to remember - it not for resale or investment (was in past, when people bought it for issue, but not for you, when you'll buy it on "peak").

Silveroid, I am always grateful for your insights. The seller here is also smart enough that if he wants to sell it, it is on the decline. I have hopes that this will keep me from too much of a loose. regards, Liverpool
