1845 Seated Liberty Silver Dollar - Coin Community Forum

Trojan Kev New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 01/19/2012 1:15 pm Hello All, I've got an 1845 Seated Liberty silver dollar, which I've had for ages but am only checking on current value of right now. It's in great condition, but the mint mark shows CC (Carson City) mint. From what I've just learned today there is a problem with this since that mint apparently didnt exist at that time. Is this coin a fake? Does it have any value? Please chime in! Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

jfransch Pillar of the Community United States 1801 Posts	Posted 01/20/2012 01:17 am In your case the CC mintmark stands for "Chinese Counterfeit". I have the same coin, bought at the local swap meet knowing it was a fake. I think I paid $2 for mine because the CC mintmark made me laugh. The seller insisted it was real.
