Just won these on ebay. Would you like to hazard a guess as to grades on both coins? Thanks.

Colin

Of course, still new to this grading but this is what I think. Looks like the buffalo is mixed in my opinion. I would say a definite AU50 on the obverse, maybe even higher. The reverse I think is EF40. But, I don't have an AU reverse to actually look at in hand to compare.

For the quarter, I would say VF, only because I think the right leg is worn a little too much for the EF rating of "worn only on the knee"....But, I'm probably way off. lololol

Thanks for the pics to grade.

Nice Buff I think its an MS coin. I don't see any trace of wear on either side.Full horn and ribbon in hair shows no wear.

The Standing Liberty,I believe is AU50. Slight trace of wear on head and knee and center of the shield. The dates minted before 1925 wore the dates off very quickly with any circulation as they had no protection. This ones date is still strong with just a little wear.

I don't believe there is wear on the Buffalo nickel. These coins weren't always struck well as nickel is a very hard metal. Dependent upon luster, I think this coin could go to MS63.

It appears that there is a decent amount of wear on the leg, but these coins did not always have a good strike in that area. I am more guided by the detail remaining in the breast, head, and shield. The details in the eagle look good with some wear. I would have to say EF40 on this one.

Thanks folks. The Type One Buffalo was listed on ebay as an AU to possibly BU. I paid less than half what I paid for the last one I asked you to grade that was listed as BU and wasn't. I returned that one to the seller. I think this Buffalo is an AU-58 with just slight wear on the high points of the hair, but I won it for less than half what I paid for the one I returned. The SLQ was not listed by the seller with a grade (not that I pay much attention to what a seller claims for grade anyway). I too am bothered by the lack of a gown line on the right leg and the center of the shield is worn on the high points. I paid a F-12 price for it and I believe it may just be XF-40. I hope it isn't really that yellowish cast all over, but that may just be the lighting and the photograph. This is the drill for a person trying to fill a 7070 and on a fixed retirement income. Now if I could find an undamaged, uncorroded Draped Bust Large Cent somewhere? I appreciate you all.

For my money, that SLQ is EF. Very good buy!
