This is the first report of a 2011 5 pence coin since their release was delayed due to the switch from cupronickel to plated steel. How many 2011 dated ones did you find?

Hard to tell from the small picture but does look like something funny going near the rim on the lower left.

Hi Kena thanks for your reply. I have found a few of these 2011 5 pence's. in my change jar but the 2 errors I found were in my purse. I will be on the look out for more. whats the chances of finding 2 error coins in your purse at any one time ? weired. jacqueline.

Looks like a die crack across PENCE. A crack in the die allowed metal to rise up during the strike, creating the raised ridge of metal. Presumably many coins were created with the same crack so other examples should turn up.
