I collect Olympic Commemorative Coins. I'd be interested to know of other collectors out there that are into the same thing. If you are...post some photos of some of your favorite olympic coins and let's see what we get in this thread. I'll do the same.

They all share the same obverse so I'm posting only one

Before this series there was only a handful of commemorative rubles and all of them circulated. With these coins many people started collecting, although many still entered circulation. From then on most Russians called (any) commemoratives "olympic rubles".

the 1968 Mexico Olympics had some coins with high silver content. I know I've got some around here... let me try to get a photo later.

You mean .720 fine? That's...pretty high, I guess... High for me would be .925, .900 at the least.
