Hi,
I am new to this foruma but not new to collecting notes. I have relatively recently decided to concentrate on US $1 bills.
Living in the UK it is not always easy for me to find (reliable) information from people that know, having to rely on that which I can find on the internet, not knowing its legitimacy or accuracy.
I am trying to collect a $! from each Federal Reserve for each series.
I have found a list of series, and know the list of Federal Reserves.
What I cant find is information as to when the federal reserves where issuing. I know that all twelve were issuing for each series from 1963 onwards, but what was issued before that? Was it just serial number blocks? or was it by something else as well?
I hope that is clear....
Thanks ina dvance

All 12 issued both regular and star (replacement) notes for most series. The Standard Catalog of US Paper money has more detail.

Hi and Before the US Federal Reserve Note, was the US Note: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_NoteHere is a nice history of Notes: http://www.uspapermoney.info/history/And go to this site to get an idea on what Federal Reserve $1 notes were issued for each series: http://www.uspapermoney.info/serials/all___s.htmlNot all banks issued a $1 note for each series. There are a few that were never printed. That would be a huge and expensive collection, especially living in the UK, since you would have to buy all of your notes and not get them from a local bank at face value. I do get current series notes as CU from my bank and I do collect like you do, but mainly from circulation. It would be one impressive looking collection, once you complete it though!

I am only a small way though the collection so far, but I have some nice ones (including 1935A Hawaii and NOrth Africa issues)
It will be expensive and impressive when completed, however I have some assistance. I have an online friend in Texas helping, and I have been going into Travel agents to buy any they have as well!
Any offers of assistance gratefully welcomed though!
Thanks for all the information. I look forward to being part of this community.

I have zero knowledge on the topic of USA banknotes ... but can write and say ... Quote: Any offers of assistance gratefully welcomed though! Be careful here ... asking for support, ideas and input from the experts at the CCF is all great ... it's why we are here. Asking for offers to provide banknotes for your collection is a bad idea until you meet the forum requirements for participating in the Bull/Sell/Trade forums. I know you were asking for the former (advise and technical support) ... just did not want to see you get in trouble. David
