Assuming your coin is similar to the one pictured, I wouldn't do it. If there is yet more of the darkest toning on yours, I wouldn't even consider it. Too risky.

IF I couldn't stand it as is? I'd sell it an buy one I liked better.
In my opinion, these are two comments worth repeating.

I have another TYPE II FH coming and I am going to release this into the market for someone who can appreciate her beauty.

Best for all concerned. This coin is a very poor candidate for a successful dip.

To publicly answer a PM question (with their permission); the incoming SLQ is a raw 1917 Type II (hopefully it arrives today) and of course I will post images of it "https://goccf.com/t/109118" thread. And I will list the 1930 SLQ on the forum first, then ebay if there no takers. It's kinda counter-productive, saying that the coin has ugly toning (yet again, my opinion) and then offering it for sale to the same audience. We'll see how it pans out.

You guys are awesome!

One of the things you have to consider with a darkly toned coin is the very good chance that the toning itself has already damaged the surfaces of the coin and that damage will be revealed if you remove the toning.

Yes, I am going to leave it "as is" and sell to recoup the expense from the 1917 Type II SLQ that I just got.

I would leave it as is. I would NOT use MS70, it is a powerful cleaner with very strong surfactants that can strip all the original patina off.

E-z-est dip would likely remove the toning and also likely remove some of the luster. IF I couldn't stand it as is? I'd sell it an buy one I liked better.

One thing about messing with any coin in cleaning is if it is yours, you can do as you want, like, etc. It'a yours. And if you do not PLAN on reselling it, so what if it gets ruined. HOWEVER, that is always one of the things to remember. You may not plan on ever selling any coin, but what IF. And then too, someday someone else will get that coin and would probably be thinking WHY did he do this.
