I know little about Colonials but this looks like a Washington cent overstruck on one of those Nova Constellatio pieces. Would that make it especially rare? I recall that early US Half Cents and/or cents were often struck on cut-down copper tokens so I presume the general practice was widespread. Can you post full-size images of obverse and reverse? The whole-coin images you already posted don't show all the detail very well.

WOW! That is a score. That coin is a Machins Mills Portrait issue (probably W-2110, often found struck over Nova Constellatio planchets) I am no expert on these but I would take it to a copper specialist and have it attributed. Great find!

It's actually a Vermont Ryder 12 or 14 Bust Right overstruck on possible Nova but I'm still trying to figure that out. Wow. Great find! You can actually see the eye and rays of the reverse on his cheek. Could be overstruck on a left over Vermont Lanscape as well. What did you pick it up for?

W-2110 is the same as RR12. While minted for Vermont as Vermontensium pointed out, the coin was made at Machin's Mill in New York as opposed to the earlier Landscape type, 1786 "Baby Head", and "Mailed Head Left" that were made at Rupert Mill located in Vermont. Cannot be RR14 because of the position of the "I" on the obverse. Any way you call it, that is a great find.

I have narrowed it down to the RR-12 as well. The triangular denticles is also a sign of a Machin's Mill minted coin.

I had it at ryder 12 as well. Its way more difficult to decide when in hand. Where did you find the information on the overstruck coins? Thanks for the input guys.

Yes it is over a Nova, a 1785 issue, a CONSTELLATIO with pointed rays.

Sorry Vermontensium I picked it up for 250. What grade would you gather?
