3} Appears to be segments between some segments (see arrows) What is the cause of this?

I would say VF 25 possibly 30 with the die wear.

VF 25. Not sure about the Overton #, not in front of my references. The coin appears to be a Late Die State. The I and E are certainly intriguing. I will chime in later if one of the experts has'nt answered yet.

Technically choice VF, but I doubt it would get into a good holder due to the improper cleaning.

The more I look at my earlier halves & dollars I think most had been cleaned before I bought them. Way back when, as a young inexperienced collector, I really liked large round shiny silver things.

WOW 1827's are tough. I'm gonna throw O-139 obv 24-v2, rev V out there.

Yes they are with 28 obv & 34 rev dies = 49 varieties. Once I was sure it was Rev V I did consider O139 but ruled it out based on Star 8. Mine is UH, 139 is LH.
