I'm still broke but decided to see if I could pick up a few bargains to keep me amused - The idea was to keep the price right down and see if I could get anything interesting, I knew I would have to sacrifice quality but I'm OK with that, I dont mind worn coins as long as they can be IDed.
The pictures are the sellers and from experience these coins will be better in hand - the pics make them look cold and grainy. I suspect a bit of wax will help the details stand out too. FL CONSTANTIS BEA C - Bust right, laureate, draped, cuirassed, from front.GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS - Two soldiers standing on either side of a military standard (with a dot), each holding a spear and leaning on a shield.DeltaSIS- Siscia 346-348AD (this seems late to me?) - RIC VII Siscia 255, R3 - Quite an uncommon genitive case obverse legend containing 'Beatissimus' or 'most blessed' Caesar.SEVERVS NOB C - Right, laureate.GENIO POP-VLI ROMANI - Genius naked standing left, tower on head, holding patera and cornucopiae, chlamys over left shoulder.SIS - Siscia 305-306AD - RIC VI Siscia 171a, R - Been looking for a Severus II quarter follis for a while now but most are grossly overpriced.DN CONSTAN-TIVS P F AVG - Bust right, pearl diadem, draped, cuirassed, from front.FEL TEMP - REPARATIO - Bare headed, reaching fallen horseman being speared by soldier.•ASIRM• (M in lf) - Sirmium 337-361AD - RIC VIII Sirmium 75, C - Nothing 'different' about this coin, just a fel temp.93p each including shipping DN IVLIA-NVS NOB C - Bust right, bare head, draped, cuirassed, from front.SPES REI-PVBLICE - Emperor standing left holding globe and spear.Unkown mintmark but minted in Sirmium 355-361AD. Maybe in hand I can 100% ID it.FL CONSTANTIS BEA C - Bust right, laureate, draped, cuirassed, from front.GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS - Two soldiers standing on either side of two military standards (with dots), each holding a spear and leaning on a shield.•ASIS•- Siscia 333-335AD - RIC VII Siscia 238, R4 - As the above example, but with two standards this time, 'Beatissimus' or 'most blessed' Caesar.DN CONSTAN-TIVS P F AVG - Bust right, pearl diadem, draped, cuirassed, from front.FEL TEMP - REPARATIO - Bare headed, reaching fallen horseman being speared by soldier.•ASIRM• (M in lf) - Sirmium 337-361AD - RIC VIII Sirmium 75, C - Exactly the same as the above coin.95p each including shipping IMP M IVL PHILIPPVS AVG - Bust right, laureate, draped, cuirassed, from rear.PROVINC-IA DACIA - Dacia standing half-left, holding standards inscribed 'V' 'XIII' for legoins, eagle with wreath in beak and lion at feet.ANIII - Province of Dacia, year 3, 248-249AD - Pick 16, Martin 2'67'8 - 27mm, 13.50 grams.I dont know much about minting in Dacia or if this can be pinned down to a single site, some reading needed. Its not in great shape and its holed but from what I understand these coins are quite scarce and ever since Doug and Jesse posted theirs I wanted to find one.£1.96 including shippingI also picked up these two but have not attributed yet: The shoulder on the first coin interested me, looked like it could have a marking - The marking in the centre of the reverse of the second one also caught my eye.£2.49 each (I went a bit crazy!) including shippingWhat do you think? I think I did OK Edited by bobbyhelmet 01/26/2012 4:52 pm

I think you did great on bargain hunting. I try to do that all the time. I get low grade coins but try to get them as attributable. I'm sure some of them might improve a bit more with a soak.

Good job IMHO. I think you took over the crown of thrifty buyer (at least for now).

Your crown is far to auspicious - I'm replacing it with a cap

Very well done! This spurs me on to bargain-hunt myself, although I can't touch Greeks for anywhere near those prices.

These seem promising at the price but the question is what will emerge or remain after the cleaning is done. Most of these are not worn but have surface issues that may or may not improve. The first two groups strike me as very good deals.
