Whopee another hobby. PayDay so bought me a Garret 250 as my first metal detector since I was a child (don't even remember what that one was). I went with a Garret Ace 250 since it's the only detector the shop had, the price was decent at $214 and they are made and serviced down the street.
Hope to get out to my deer lease this weekend to do some snooping with it. There are dry creek beds, old homesteads, and more to search on 350acres of what I can only assume is land that has never been detected and goes back to the cowboy/indian battles in that portion of North West Texas.
Hopefully I'll have some photos to post up later this weekend...yeah like a Wells Fargo strong box full of 1880's gold pieces...yeah I been dreaming too much.

OOH! And that's my 50th post so if I remember right that means I'll finally get to buy from you fine people..got to go check those rules again..
Good luck I still use my ACE250. Some tips for you If you don't have a coil cover I suggest getting one. Make sure the cable is tight around the pole. If its loose you will get false hits (I use velcro ties If you brush too fast over grass its will ring as a quarter. When you power on have the coil level and about 12 inches above the ground this will help the auto ground balance to do its thing. Learn the pinpoint function it will save you hours of digging time and eliminate the need to cut huge plugs..
Thanks for the tips nohope. I'll print them off. I don't know if Garret has a store front but maybe I can get the coil cover there. The hobby shop I bought it at didn't carry ANY accessories. Earl
