This would get 62-63 as a common date, but I'm betting on AU-58 too. Might want to try reslabbing several times if the value difference is massive.

I am thinking AU-58 ... maybe MS-60 but doubtful.
I would only get it graded once because not much difference in values of AU-58, MS-60 and MS-62.
It is a beautiful coin.

How does one circulate a coin on only one side?

You got me there. I guess if you saw it in half, you could spend it as a half dollar. It reminds of the pocket change I have lying around which could be considered both circulated and uncirculated at the same time. But like Westcoin said, cabinet friction could be the source of it.

Coinvet, you may want to take a second look at the prices of this coin. This coin has an exponential price structure. On Heritage, AU-58's go for $1000-1300, MS-60's for around $5000+, MS-62's for around 2-3x the MS-60 price, and a MS-65 can buy a house. So there is a lot of incentive to resubmit until you get the grade you want.

Congrats! I agree that just looking at the reverse, I would say ms. But the obv does give me just the slightest bit pause. Even at AU that is a great coin!

AU58 is nothing to scoff at. That's a tough coin 58 and higher!
