Does anyone else have one of these beauties?
I just looked at mine again today, bought it from the U.S.Mint, and the asking price has doubled since I purchased it !

I'll never sell it, though.
Would you ?

I owned two that I bought at issue price and I sold both of them for nice profits. Both graded by NGC at MS69 proof like. The one I most recently sold went for $3285 on january 1st 2012 via ebay.

I bought one for $2350 about six months ago. When I got it in hand it had dozens of hairline scratches on the field, apparently from die polishing. I returned it. It's a beautiful coin, but it looks shockingly small for a one ounce coin. I would love to have one of the proof-like examples, but they go for way over $4000, so I'll have to stick to my one ounce Buffaloes.

I bought one at issue and found it covered with die polish lines as JuniorE mentions. I returned it and they replaced it with a much nicer example that was free of polish lines. I still have it and don't intend to sell. It's a beautiful coin for sure!

I think the idea of reducing the diameter whilst maintaining the weight, was to increase the tactile feel of it, despite encapsulation.
All has to do with market psychology.

I must have been quite a challenge to keep polish lines to a minimum with the deep dishing of the coin. The U.S. Mint applied the best of cutting edge minting technology to it's production, and presentation is obviously that of a good quality collector's piece. The cost to the Mint per coin was quite high.

Despite this coin really being a proof bullion piece, it will always maintain a substantial premium over the gold value in the aftermarket.

I wanted this when it came out but didn't think of tapping some savings to buy it. Major regrets! I'll buy one eventually though

Yes these really seem to command a high resale value and I wondered why such a high premium?
