Below is the list of nickels found tonight from a $100 box. 1939 1940 1945 p (My first War Nickel!) 1946 x2 1947d 1947d 1948 x2 1949d 1952s x2 1952 1954d 1956 1956d 1957 1957d 1958d 1959d x3 2009d x2 2000 proof 2004 proof 1983 proof It was a great box and only my second one. I love looking through and finding new things. I also found a Jefferson that had a date stamped more than once. The date is the only messed up part. The IN GOD WE TRUST is very clear as is the LIBERTY. The star between LIBERTY and the date is also clear. The 1 is clear but the 9 starts to looked doubled. Then there is an 8 with what looks like a 7 stamped over it and not centered on the 8. The last number looks like a 2 that was stamped twice is very ugly. I will post a picture tomorrow. My tablet is not agreeing with me. Any ideas on common errors this may be? Thanks!

Go back to that same bank and buy all their nickels! Somebody may have dumped the wrong coin box somewhere upstream.

Here are the 3 Proofs and the 1 silver nickel I found in that box. This was scanned, so it may not look very good.

How can you put coins in 2x2s like that? I thought all coin collectors were completely neurotic about putting them in perfectly straight. I know I am. That would drive me crazy, like, to the point where if I bought that coin, I would remove it and put it in a new 2x2.
Am I crazy?

Not crazy, maybe a little OCD....Ha Just kidding. I'm guessing most collectors are more likely to show them off the correct way. In my mind, I barely know what I'm doing looking for these coins, so by the time I find one worthy of a second look I just want to get it in a 2x2 and go after more.

Well, I went back to the same bank and got another box, and wouldnt you know, the first thing I noticed was this 2002 S proof nickel. Below is the picture, still all wrapped up.

Sweet. I'd think about leaving it in the roll, but would eventually break down and open it up b/c I'm as weak as the D on my 22 LWC.

Break down occured approximately 1 minute after seeing it. Looks better in a 2x2. :)

You did extremely well. In Canada, I rarely ever find any silver, but I have done quite well with errors and varieties. Lots of United States coins can be found in rolls od coins at Canadian banks especially near the border.

I have a bunch of Canadian coins just from the few boxes I have opened. Almost enough to get a chesseburger:)
