Been selling a few odds and ends of 90% mostly low grade, nice common date or otherwise very nice but with one or two problems type of coins. As I expected I seldom get better than bullion price or a little better price for a collectable coin thats still nice enough to go in an album . Then I saw this guys auctions. I think I know what I've been doing wrong. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1942-LIBERT...em4ab3902eb3 Man I'm missing out. My coins just aren't SHINY enough! Im off to Walmart for some polish. LOL. High wattage lights, water on the coins (wiped lightly), dark background. Should do it.

I hope I'm not misjudging him. I've taken enough bad coin pics to know they can have a life of their own. When I see 7 pics, all with better reflections than the bumper of my 1963 Bonneville and a grade of MS66, I know I'm doing it wrong. It will be fun to follow his auctions and see just how many bids he gets.

I wonder if he wears the cotton gloves while he's buffing those poor Walkers.

My evil twin just pointed out that if I dig far enough back in the closet I can find any number of highly polished coins from my early days of collecting. It took me a long time to see that all that glitters aint necessarily gold. I could sell them but they are a valuable reminder to pay attention to what I'm doing.

The seller plainly describes it as a MS66 Walking Liberty half. Maybe DMPL tossed in here and there would help.

I hate these polishing idiots, they do so much damage. Especially with medieval coins. Unfortunately there is an another group of idiots who buy it.

HHMMMMMmmm. MS-66 could mean Mostly Scrubbed and if you use a 100 point system, then 66 is about 3/4 up there. I've seen people at flea markets use coins to demonstrate how an auto polish works. Almost makes them into a Proof coin. Unfortuately someone will buy that coin since it looks so pretty to them.

Sure is puuuurrrty. Just wondering how they can list this as "is graded MS 66", but every pic is them holding the coin...no slab?

If it's not slabbed, then it won't be long before ebay kicks the auction.

It can be in the description, not the title. Not sure if its allowed in the item specifics. I've sent off an email.
