http://www.ebay.com/itm/22093769041....m1497.l2649Do not use this vendor. Slab has been tampered with and coin has two black gauges not visible in his picture, on the obverse. They will not accept returns on PCGS or NGC coins? They did say return it which I intended to do but now I am out double shipping.... Why can't a vendor be honest, it is enough to drive you crazy. Avoid at all costs! Edited by Freedom 02/03/2012 06:15 am

No sense getting burned on someone who will not rectify the situation.

Looks nothing like his picture, I believe he used photoshop and NGC does not have the picture of the coin for that cert number. The slab has been tampered with. They will accept a return if I pay the shipping. I am filing as well.

I would file a claim with Paypal and ebay stating the coin was not as described. The final outcome will be that the seller will just re-sell the coin to someone who will just accept the blemishes and not return it again. I would get a fixed number in my head (if I wanted to keep it) that would make me feel warm and fuzzy inside and approach the seller with that amount. That way, you got a good deal and he did not get bad ratings on the transaction. The seller might just want to refund you some money to keep the deal intact. You never know, this whole thing might turn out to be a sweet deal for you......if you are willing to negotiate it.

I have to come to the defense of ebay sellers even though I am not one. I will be the first to admit that there a lot of real bad ones on ebay, sellers that you cannot trust and are dishonest, take bad pictures, have no refund policy and don't stand behind the coins they sell, etc. like the one portrayed in this thread. However, I have found other sellers on ebay that I totally trust. I have bought many coins from these sellers and have not had any bad experiences. They try to give honest answers to any questions and if you are still not satisfied with coin they will accept returns no questions asked. So I don't think we should paint too wide a brush and imply that all ebay sellers are dishonest. IMHO.

This one is the first one in over 700 transactions that hosed me, kinda took me by surprise. Filed a claim at 9:42 this morning, got an e-mail at 9:57 stating my case was closed and I had received a full refund including the shipping charges. I have asked for an address to send the coin to but so far have not heard back from them.....Just waitin sittin here on the Dock O The Bay.....

Wow! Quick turn-around time! Must have been obvious, better customer support, or possibly a "new" person behind the customer service desk. Anyway, good on you for not laying down and taking it!

I am wondering if a person who was new this collecting would have just stuck this coin away as part of their collection or did what I did?
I think they prey on beginning collectors, not all, just this guy.

Just to humor me - something I see in the seller's pic - look for a dot to the right of the designer's initial on the obverse.

Since negotiating after purchase is a common hustle, honest dealers will usually insist on full refund with full return only, no partial refund "adjustments". Of course, there are red flags in this case, so anything's possible. I've even had a seller make a refund and PayEnemy also make a full refund. If I didn't return one amount, the seller would have been sol.
