This is the obverse, I have circled the marks on the coin, they are not on the slab. This is the reverse as requested. This is just another reason this purchase made me uncomfortable after opening the package and investigating further. Here is a larger view of the reverse. Just The Coin

Quote: Filed a claim at 9:42 this morning, got an e-mail at 9:57 stating my case was closed and I had received a full refund including the shipping charges. ebay is trying to be Amazon, and this is a big part of it. If you have to contact ebay, they figger you were getting nowhere with the seller. A SNAD claim takes about a minute to decide, they refund your money, they ding the seller's PayEnemy account, game over.

Does this coin look fake to anyone? If so, please point it out and I will make sure they can't use the case again.

Looks like a solid 63 to me. Also, it's not unusual to have some melted plastic on the edge of slabs from the sonic sealing process. These slabs are VERY difficult to get open without destroying them. I seriously doubt someone would attempt to swap out a coin in a $50 slab. Sorry, I think you're in the wrong here.

Have to agree with Thad, I see this on NGC slabs fairly often.

If so, then so be it. The coin looks far worse in person than the scans. The black marks appear to be gouges in the obverse while looking through a microscope and are much more prominient then the scans show. This coin is not MS-63 and the edges of the slab have file marks on them that I can't get to show in a scan. At any rate, I feel better sending it back then paying for it. That is all that matters. I have not left any feedback for the seller, was waiting to hear from everyone here first. Thanks Bad Thad, My wife tells me I am wrong all the time and I have refused to believe her for years, guess I had better re-evaluate my lot in life.....

After seeing the black marks Freedom posted, and looking closer at the original auction pics, I have to begin thinking that obverse image was doctored. Standard coin lighting doesn't create that sharp division on a line between 2:00 and 8:00, and strangely enough that's the precise line which would catch both black marks at once. The one in the cotton boll can be seen if you concentrate, but the one in front of the mouth is curiously....smudged.
See the series of 4 white dots left of the lips? Anyone who's ever done dodge/blur/blend in postprocessing will understand them.

No question Dave, the area in front of the lips was cloned. Stripped to black and white, brightened, enlarged, and sharpened a bit..... Classic clone scars that cannot be hidden from a trained eye.

Are you saying that there is a possibility that this coin IS NOT the coin that was originally in the slab or they just doctored the photograph? IMHO, this coin does not grade MS anything and looking at the file marks on the case made me go hmmmmmmm...... I am still not entirely sure that this coin was the coin that NGC Graded. There is no picture on the verification site to go by so I am not 100% positive. I am also an amateur when it comes to grading, had to hold a true MS-63 coin next to it and there is a huge huge huge difference. The coin also sits kind of "Cock-Eyed" in the slab, the edges do not line up with the coin all around the circumference. I will test with a strong magnet on Monday before I send it back, gone for the week-end after 3:00 this afternoon.

Quote: Have to agree with Thad, I see this on NGC slabs fairly often. I have seen the danglies on the slabs as well, that is not what those are, they are file marks. The edges of the case have been ground down on both sides of the slab, not just the one I showed. I am still not certain that this coin is real, Magnet will prove at least one thing on Monday. The post says Seven day return policy but if you dig further into his return policy it states that "PCGS and NGC" slabbed coins cannot be returned. I do not understand that statement at all. Bad Thad said it is nearly impossible to get them apart and would show obvious tampering (Like Mine). Something just does not smell right about this. Whoo-hoo for Abby! ...and Ziva ...Kate was all right too! I have seen the No Returns on Certified coins before. Raw coins have return privledges. Never really understood that, but ebay would probably side with the buyer.

Quote:HONEST? Your talking about ebay. If a vendor was honest on ebay, they would kick them off. I dont think you should paint every seller on ebay with one brush,Ive dealt with many honest people on ebay, including some of the members here!
