I posted these some time ago but the pictures were small and not very good. I picked these coins up from a trade center in Michigan when I was about 15 years old (25 years ago). I think they are counterfeits. What do you think?
Hmm, very biblical... a widow's mite, a "tribute penny" denarius, and a "thirty-pieces-of-silver" tetradrachm of Tyre. If you picked them up from a scratchtray, then yes, I'd say they're fake.
The tetradrachm looks worst to me, the low points are lacking in detail, like the design is "melting back" into the coin - sign of a shallow casting.
The denarius doesn't look convincing to me, either, with the pitting like that.
The little lepton is hardest to condemn from the photos, but if it was obtained from the same source, then it's probably guilty by association.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
