The one in question on the left still looks strange. Like it has small pitting or something, the surface seems rough as opposed to the one on the right. the left one just doesn't look original to me. barryg Pillar of the Community United States 5862 Posts	Posted 02/08/2012 3:42 pm I suspect your coin is simply well polished. I think the "strange texture" people are reporting is just signs of wear. Just as an experiment, I took a very worn Bicentennial Kennedy half dollar (the rims are completely worn smooth) and tried polishing it up a bit with a jeweler's cloth.
