I think it could be a fake copper plated steel shell and a dime can be hidden in the reverse side.
If it is real and hollowed out it could still be picked up with a little sticky stuff (tape) on a couple fingers. Maybe it is home made.

The coin is laid flat on a table with the heads side showing and the dime underneath. A magnet it hovered over the coin and the steel "lid" is magically lifted, converting a "penny" into a dime.
