I'm just guessing...assuming numismedia, Red Book, and other online price lists that the delear may refer to are all in the same ballpark - that a decent offer would be 70% of that or around $800-1,000. The dealer is buying it to resale so isn't going to pay full price obviously. Earl

Prices quoted are for generic "type" $10 Indians. I bought a generic $10 Indian in NGC MS62 last week for $1,000. Current wholesale prices are: MS62: $920 MS63: $1200 Offering much less than that would be "looking for a rip".

 Sounds reasonable.

I agree, most dealers should pay pretty close to the wholesale prices and if it was much less than what BH quoted I would find someone else

Reason I asked is I had a guy thought 1200 was too low. Not my fault he paid 1700.

After your inital post @biggfredd, I did a little searching on ebay and saw some posted for less than was offered ($1050-1100). I would have thought that $1200 offer was a very good one for the seller. It's like the people that pay $2000 for the ASE sets on the shopping networks, you can't take them into your corner coin shop and expect to get your money back! Earl

This is an interesting aspect of business that seems to escape a lot of people. When we are selling something, the buyer does not care what WE paid. The buyer is ONLY concerned with what THEY have to pay to get it. I agree that a lot of people over-pay for things and then expect to pass that over-payment tendency on to the next (uninformed) person, if they can.

The lowest Buy-It-Now for an NGC MS63 is $1375 and the lowest completed listing is just over $1200. Generic $10 Indians in 63 typically bring $1300 retail. The $1200 wholesale offer was very fair for sure. You may have searched for $10 Libs by mistake.

BH1964, my memory was $50 off: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ICG-MS63-19...em43acc5ead5I also probably was seeing/thinkin of the MS62's of which there are many that are under $1k. I'll never be advanced enough to want/care to spend several hundred more $$ for that extra point. Just me though. Earl

OK, I'm an idiot. It was NGC63 Indian $10. I'm not doubting he got that offer, we've got a local who has been reported to have: - Failed the pawnbroker test twice
- Offered $540 (spot) for bullion silver worth $450
- Bought $120,000 in fake gold
- Paid more than melt for 90%
Either way, I wouldn't pay that much unless I had a buyer.
