i am thinking I want a new shotgun and I am also 4 coins away from finishing my LWC. now I dont have enuff silver for the big coppers 14D and 09 SVDB but I do have enuff extra dimes to get the o9S and the 11S but here is the kicker my local coin shop also has a nice 12GA that he would take $10 face silver for. Now I was wondering if now is a good time to spend these extra dimes or should I wait till silver gets higher and is steel or copper a better buy or hold the silver

I would accumulate copper bronze and brass scrap at every opportunity, but I would not buy it as investment. Same with aluminium. Lot of kids I know collect aluminium cans and scrap for pocket money for recycling. A kid can do that for copper scrap as well, if you have your contacts.
I know. I did that as a kid, and I made quite a bit of money for myself over the years. I used to accumulate ANYTHING with copper in it. The proceeds ultimately were fed into to coin collecting.
If you want to spend money, silver and gold are for speculation. I accumulate scrap silver these days. Mainly coins, but from other sources also. The proceeds will ultimately be spent on numismatic items.
I am not a bullion speculator, but I do keep a close eye on the silver and gold spot prices. The gold price to know when NOT to buy gold coins for my collection, and the silver price to know when to sell my scrap silver.
You really need to be a scrap metal merchant to trade in scrap steel in useful volumes, but stainless steel scrap may be worth considering as an hoarder, if the volumes are great enough. You just need an unused corner in your yard if you are going to do that. I have about 150 pounds of scrap stainless steel.

Sel the steel I was taking about is a 12GA shotgun and the copper was some wheat cents I am thinking this weekend with silver at $34 it may be a good time to swap most of my dimes I have bought below $30

I think you may be able to wait a little bit and get a better price.
In addition to that, there is the possibility that the economy will continue to be stagnate and you will be able to get a better price on any Lincolns that you want. I don't know much about guns, but I'm sure somebody else here can tell you whether or not that's a good deal on the shotgun if you can give more specifics on the model and condition.

Three years ago, he'd prolly have wanted $50 in silver for the boomstick. Now he wants $10. If silver doubles, he'll want five. Silver can go either way, so if you're not satisfied with the $40 savings, by all means, hold out for the five bucks.

What is the value of the shotgun? If it were myself, I would take my "worthless" paper dollars and buy the shotgun. Keep your silver. You can buy brand new shot guns for $200 at Big 5 and Walmart. Keep your silver since it is selling for such a ridiculously low price.

You can't go wrong with silver or firearms. What is the make, model, and condition of the 12 gauge is it that you are considering?

Steel is set to go up, copper is already up, a good extra shotgun is nice to have, I picked up an old bolt action 12 gauge at a garage sale for $65 a few years back, although lighter, shorter, and way cheaper than the Beretta, it works.
