I'm not much of a paper collector. I found a 100 star note with a semi-fancy serial number. I don't have it on hand but its something like 077377XXX. Not great condition but not bad either. I believe it is a 2006. Is it worth listing it on ebay if the fees they take off leave me with 100 bucks or what would be the best way of selling the thing? or should I spend the thing!?

How bad is not great? Are there tears, missing corners, holes or really bad folds in it?

Is it showing a lot of wear on the ink?

And the full serial # would be needed to determine how rare it is. Also, make sure it is a series 2006 and not a 2006 A.

I don't know how to grade paper notes so I'm not even going to guess at a grade on it. No tears or missing corners. Ink is good. It is creased through the middle, thats the only major blemish. I will post the full serial number when I get back home. What is the difference in 2006 and 2006 A?

Well unfortunately you cant sell it to any of the members on this forum because you don't have 250 post sent, probably the best thing to do is go on e bay and search for what you have, then watch to see what it sells for. That should give you about the best idea as to what it's worth.

Grading is here:
http://www.pmgnotes.com/grading/grading-scale.asp

Difference between the 2 series, per the BEP is:
When NXG [NextGen, i.e., colorized] $100 production halted due to sporadic paper creasing, the BEP went back into production of NCD [New Currency Design, i.e., 1996-generation] $100s to meet the continuing high demand for this U.S. currency denomination. With the NXG $100s bearing a new series year and new signatures, a decision was made to retain Series 2006 and Cabral/Paulson signatures on the NCD $100s. The A was added to the series to distinguish between the different production cycles.

Is the crease you speak of from folding in half to stick in a wallet, or a crease from the mint? That could change things dramatically. Post a pic.

IMO it is a spender. that is more then just a crease through the middle and it comes from a run of 1,920,000 which is not a rare run. To add to that there were 11,502,000 HB * printed that series.
Rest in Peace

I can almost guarantee you'd not get a premium, much less enough to pay FVF.

Actually there are 2 creases and a lot of wear in the center, so I would spend it.

Don't feel bad man. I saved a bunch of cool looking bills from when I was a drugstore cashier, trading from my wallet money for them. Then years later when I was broke, I checked ebay thinking I was rich and the darn things were selling for face value. But I still had enough to buy groceries for a couple weeks. Don't lose the passion! It costs you nothing to hang on to them for a couple days, check their value when you have a chance, and if not just catch an release if they don't command a premium.

Better to have found one to spend than to never have found one at all!
