Nothing wrong with this auction, just hope nobody from CCF is bidding for it, - obviously cleaned and artificially retoned. This coin is AU details at best by any grading company, the AT is weird looking and the coin is not at all original, the price should not go over $70.00 it's currently running $200+ ouch!

That is interesting. I definitely agree with your assessment of the coin. I'd like to think most of the people on here would know better.

This is why I hate ebay! People put junk on there and get big bucks... I post something good on there and it sells for way under what it should. Then I get hit with the darn final value fees

Jeez that is ugly! Looks like somebody bought the cheapest possible cigar and blew the smoke all over it. Avoid for sure.

I actually KNEW this was going to be the coin referenced, I had seen it and scratched my head earlier. What lincolnguy said is true too, thats why I do a lot of BIN for anything I cant let go for next to nothing. It works better in the long run.

Quote: ElmerFusterpuck: Jeez that is ugly! Looks like somebody bought the cheapest possible cigar and blew the smoke all over it. Avoid for sure. Were going to get along just fine I think Had this discussion the other day about cigar smoke, when someone posted a coin they bought that looked weird, I asked what it smelled like, seriously! Elmer is correct looks like either smoke or heat treated. It finally ended at $305.00 somebody is not going to be happy if they submit it to a TPG in the future, that's for sure. For that kind of money you could buy a nice graded MS-64BN in a slab and know what you are getting. Only saving grace is it might have a repunched date, though not a rarity in the 1864 date. I see what looks like some doubling on the top of the 4, but still not enough to warrant that price, not even half of what it went for at the hammer.
