The coin is a 1958 Threepence which has a diameter of 17mm (instead of 16mm) & also has a standard weight. My question now is: What do you think this coins error is? Looking at the reverse i'd say straight up broadstrike but that obverse has me asking question,how this ? how that ? blah blah blah etc etc,I'm sure you know what I mean though. One thing I can't get my head around is how big the numbers in reverse are,can anyone explain how that can be ? I'm not doubting the coin,i just need to know LOL. Report this Post to the Staff

goatieman23 Pillar of the Community Australia 869 Posts	Posted 02/09/2012 05:23 am The backward numbers are on what we would normally call the obverse & they are incused. It always has me asking questions & I own it. A couple coin dealers said it was PMD...I love coin dealers, they will tell you incorrectly so they can get a bargain. The incused numbers on the (obverse) could possibly have been caused by a brockage pushing too far & stretching them out. It looks like a 9reeds53, but it's actually 9reeds58 in reverse, but it doesn't fit because of the stretching. I sometimes doubt this coin but it's definitely one of a kind. I have a similar coin which the previous owner painted, but you can see Elizabeth on it better, but she has a 5 on the crown of her head. I'll try & get it up soon. Report this Post to the Staff
appleangel07 Pillar of the Community Australia 1607 Posts	Posted 02/09/2012 05:58 am Thanks for the reply goatieman,I was just doing some reading about errors,I'm wondering if the previous coin struck was a cap coin still stuck on the die ( would explain why the numbers are so stretched out & a lot bigger ) when this coin was struck ? would also explain the incused,is this a possibility ? appleangel07 Pillar of the Community Australia 1607 Posts	Posted 02/09/2012 10:02 am OK,well after much more reading I think I fully understand now,for some reason I thought a brockage was raised images on both side,obviously I did'nt read properly 5/6 years ago when I first joined ebay & needed to learn all this stuff. What I said in my last post was describing a brckage of course. It would be nice to have the pair. Now I can vote LOL. Report this Post to the Staff
