Great collection, Po. We seem to be collecting virtually the same exact thing; to wit, heavy on coins from Canada and Australia. Although I have 67 countries in my AG collection, those two countries make up the lion's share of my bullion collection. Both mints make great stuff. For anyone interested, here are some other countries producing high quality silver that I can think of off the top of my head: Palau, Cook Islands, Poland, NZ, Latvia, Niue, Tuvalu, Russia, France, and the Isle of Man. Some of these counties obviously outsource their coins to the bigger mints.

Out of curiosity, where does the "angel of the gods" coin come from. I don't think it's Canada, right?

kookoox10,
The angel of the gods isn't a coin, just a round. It was from an old series called Mythological Legends by AMC mint. Maybe someone else knows what AMC stands for; American Mining Corp.?

That Angel of the Gods came from a legendary place in Valhalla called "Silverhawk's stash, rof "..... I aquired from a nice older fellow who had been sitting on those bullon rounds for years, and was happy to be selling when silver was around 35 per oz. last year.... Passed it on to Pobox in either a trade or sell, can't recall now.... The other coin that was with it that I bought was the New Orleans round with the cool voodoo masks. The same mthological legends series....

Well, how ever old those rounds are, they are tough to find. Just out of curiosity, looked on the bay to find only a couple AMC mint coins, none of the angel of the gods rounds.

Have to thank Hawk for AMC coins, beautiful! It was in the first batch I bought from Hawk I think, and included very nice Australian lunar series coins and misc other rounds. @traevin: 67 countries! very nice! I'm am limiting my collection to 999 pure coins only. That does thin down the possibilities by quite a bit so I wouldn't have to empty my pockets as fast. I'm only up to 18 individual countries, with the odder ones being Andorra, Mongolia, Republic of Malawi. I double or triple up on the more prolific countries like Australia and Canada. I'm putting together 2 sets, one to pass on to my boy and the other to pawn off when I reach some yet unspecified collection milestone. ztt2 and thanks for the bump. I'll get to updating the collection when I have more free time in May

Po,
I draw the line at .925 sterling As you know, even your British Britannia coins aren't .999, although they are very close. Lots of countries use the sterling, for whatever reason; even Canada, occasionally.

Not a thing wrong with sterling, IMO. That's more pure than US 90% silver coins and some of them look quite nice. I don't have any sterling as coins but there is this set of silverware downstairs that I have been eyeballing. My wife was defending them because they were a college graduation gift but she seems to be warming up to the idea of selling the set. Now, if I can only convince her that what we really need is a few rolls of silver coins or maybe some AGEs!

Ed,
I've recently seen several Tiffany silverware sets go appreciably above melt value. I'm sure provenance, age, and style would play a role in whatever you could get for yours, of course. Any silver utensil experts on site :)

My wife would scream "that's not fair!" If I get to keep my coins she gets to keep her silverware and jewelry

While getting interested in investing in PM's over the past few months I came across this excellent thread which got me interested in collecting silver from around the world. I just wanted to say thanks for sharing. It was a great introduction for me to some of the options available for investing in silver.

Quote: My wife would scream "that's not fair!" If I get to keep my coins she gets to keep her silverware and jewelry I'm sure that would be a very typical response to this kind of guy-move. lol Quote: I've recently seen several Tiffany silverware sets go appreciably above melt value. Any silver utensil experts on site :) I'd bet that would be the case for certain special silverware sets. I dug out the silver set we have (when wife not around) and it is in a gorgeous red velvet lined black walnut case but alas... it is not sterling, it is plated. Yikes! After all these years of thinking that it was sterling.
