Hi there everyone. This is my first post to the Canadian variety and error forum and my question involves the 1884 large cent and how to tell the differences between the obv1 and obv2 varieties? I think that mine is obv2 but following the guidelines on the canadacoin site it doesn't give too many hints on what to look for and what markers (if any) to follow. Anyways, any info or help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I'm actually relieved this is the more common type, because of the cleaning done to this coin.
Dan, that's a great page you put together! The 1884 Obv 1 also has an elongated serif on the "N" in REGINA.
Here is my obv 1, which I found unattributed at a coin show in the US.

vickycents.com is a work in progress, but is well underway. Almost all of the reverse pages were just posted yesterday, so it is almost like being able to flip the coins back and forth from obverse to reverse.

There are about 105 different obverse dies currently cataloged and several hundred reverse dies.
